Let's Get Acquainted Tic-Tac-Toe style

It has been a while since I have linked up with Flying into First Grade for her Let's Get acquainted linky party.

This week's topic is a tic-tac-toe theme. You choose any three in a row to answer.

First: I went to college at Cairn University. It is a private school in Pennsylvania. A favorite memory would be when I was a sophomore. My roommate and I caught a train into Philly and then caught a bus in the wee hours of the morning to attend the Army/Navy game in Baltimore. My brother was a Navy pleb (freshman) at the Naval Academy and we went down to watch the game and visit with him. I love football, so watching the game was a blast. I love my little brother, so being able to spend some time with him was great.

Second: My first year of teaching was a bit of a blur. I was blessed to begin teaching fourth grade in the classroom that I actually student taught in (my co-op became the computer teacher at the school.) Since I had student taught there I had a head-start when it came to the school and the other faculty, but it was still overwhelming. I had five of my twenty-two students that were challenging. I had to quickly fine tune my management strategy to survive the year. So much to learn and do, but I am thankful for it. I'm a better teacher because of it. When I mentor new teacher's now I always remind them that it gets easier, they just need to hang in there.

Third: My favorite grade to teach is fourth grade! I was a December graduate so I subbed in grades K-6, but 4th has always been my favorite. I love that the students still care, they care about school, about what, I, as their teacher thinks, and they are just beginning to really develop their own personalities. I love that they are independent enough to work on their own and problem solve, but they aren't afraid to ask for help.

Be sure to link up and share a little bit more about yourself, and learn more about your fellow bloggers.

One last thing, be sure to check out Amy's blog for her awesome 100 follower giveaway.

  1. So I'm totally a primary kids teacher and always have been, but you do make 4th grade sound so great! Hmm...maybe someday I'll be brave and move above 1st grade?? :)

  3. Hi! Found you through the Linky! I graduated in December, too! I taught Head Start until I got hired for first grade, so I have always been with the little ones! You make 4th grade seem less scary!
